Criminology and Criminal Justice, Bachelor's to M.A. Accelerated Program

CCJ program director Joseph Schaeffer stands in front of a classroom giving a presentation with a St. Louis map on the screen.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice at ¶¶Òõpro who are interested in pursuing a Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice can begin graduate coursework toward the M.A. in the senior year of their undergraduate studies at SLU. Students are able to count these classes toward both their B.A. and M.A. degrees, which allows them to graduate more quickly.

Students will select a concentration in the master's program in the spring semester of their junior year in one of five areas: cybersecurity, emergency management, organizational leadership, strategic intelligence, or treatment and rehabilitation.

For additional information, see the catalog entries for the following SLU programs:

Criminology and Criminal Justice, B.A.

Criminology and Criminal Justice, M.A.

Students who have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and Bs or better in their criminology and criminal justice courses are eligible to apply to the accelerated program in the spring semester of their junior year. Exceptions for students who are very close to this standard may be made on a case-by-case basis with the approval of the director of the CCJ program.

Students who have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00, and B's or better in their criminology and criminal justice courses, are eligible to apply to the accelerated master's program in the spring semester of their junior year.

Upon provisional and conditional acceptance to the M.A. program, students select a concentration and begin M.A. coursework. Students can take up to 12 credits of M.A. coursework their senior year (2 courses in the fall and 2 courses in the spring) to count towards the B.A. in CCJ.

To graduate with both degrees in five years, students will need to take an additional class during the summer or as a fourth class one semester in the final year of the program.
